Skitals Posted September 5, 2007 Share Posted September 5, 2007 The HCL has mostly external/usb/firewire sound cards. Is this because most PCI sound cards don't work? Or do most people get on-board sound to work? I have an internal Sound Blaster Live which doesn't work, and my onboard AC 97 doesn't work either (AMD - Asus A8AE-LE). This is on uphuck 1.4a 10.4.9. I don't have much hope for it, so I intend on getting a new sound card. I would prefer to stay away from USB because of bus and fidelity limitations. Does anyone have a list or know of a PCI sound card that works? Very curious about this: how did you manage to actually do that? I have an ASUS motherboard myself (A8N SLI SE) and couldn't "convince" it to render sound at all. It too has a Realtek ALC850 onboard sound chipset, so could you please tell me how you got it to work? Maybe you're doing something I'm missing here... Thank you in advance.
