Hey there :)

I installed my hackintosh two days ago, and it's been just great.

Recently I updated my system to 10.4.9, and couple of more updates: (also installed iLife '08 btw..)

Java, iTunes, and iLife '08 product fixes. (iMovie, iPhoto, iWeb updates)

I heard music as usual, left my computer for about 10 minutes with iTunes on. When I left it, the computer was playing music without any problems. I came back and wonderd why the hell is the sound off. I went to iTunes to check up if it crashed or stopped playing, but it didn't stopped at all.

Also, before going I activated GarageBand to check it out. (Maybe this is causing the problem?)

Is there any chance that something has disabled sound? or maybe its my soundcard? (I really doubt that option since the computer was on and kept playing music)

I have no idea what to do, Tested the sound with headphones and speakers.

I appriciate help very much ;)

Thanks again!

What are your system specs including your sound id if it's embedded into your MB? Have you checked for sound in your Windows setup?

Thank you for your fast comment ^_^

When it comes to hardware I dont know a lot, um..

I have an AC97 Soundcard, when I used Windows (which doesnt really work now lol) SoundMax was my main driver.

In the System Profiler it shows like I dont have any Built-in audio card, but if I click sound I can see this:

It's much more reasonable that something is probley using my sound or disabling it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have got the same problem..

Everything is fine except the sound

I am using the AC97 too..

After installing the OSx86 10.4.10 update, everything is still OK

But the sound got sucked.

And OSx86 can still detect my sound driver too...

As same as your one/
