chival4ry
I hope that someone will help ninjapig.^^ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (ninjapig) Hey dude, i heard you talking about jmicron and i wanted to ask you i have an mcp51 mobo, without any PATA ports... i know SATA isn't supported for mcp51 or nforce 410/430 there have been confirmations that using a jmicron 363 you can make it work by editing plists so i was going to buy this product: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16816124007 can you tell me if i'm doing the right thing or not? (me) Sorry, I don`t know about mcp51 or nforce 410/430. Instead, refer to the following, ------------- [source : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...rt=&do=findComment&comment=412833] Please USE SEARCH! http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act=Search Why do you expect an nVidia chipset for an Intel CPU to work any better than one for an AMD CPU? In some cases they use not only the same logic inside the chipsets but they often even are the same actual chipsets (e.g. the nForce 570 for AMD CPUs is also known as the MCP55, which is also used as the Southbridge in nForce 680i chipsets (they use hypertransport interconnects between nb-sb so this, while unusual, is no issue for nVidia) There's a bloody 20 page long thread( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=35985 ) you have obviously ignored. No, it doesn't work on MCP51 (That's the southbridge of the nForce 650i, also known as the nForce 430 and used as the southbridge on AMD nForce 6100 IGP chipsets). You can't WRITE to SATA drives. Buy yourself a cheap PCI SATA card if you must have it. I'm getting so sick of these posts; I wish one of the mods would sticky a list of hardware which is known not to work which people keep asking about. ------------- Good Luck! (ninjapig) yeah, i've been with that thread (Darwin Nforce controller) since its inception probably have all my posts there too on that same thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ghlite=%2Bcharm they recommend this post in it: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...SATA+RAID++Card which is what I meant to ask acutally, the SATA card that you suggested...the sata card that i found on new egg which has the jmicron 363 chipset....has been said to work in the new egg link it showed an SATA card with a JMicron chipset that's what i was unsure of if there was a difference between that and the often used JMicron B363 cards...i wasn't sure if there was a difference at all. but anyway, i'd really appreciate any more help you can give. (me) I will post PMs with you and me on your thread. Perhaps, someone may help you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61810-jmicron-363/#findComment-438201 Share on other sites
