cringemaster
For the last few months ive been having a few recurring bugs that have really been frustrating me lately. One of them is that mail magically launches itself ever half hour or so, no matter what i do to it. I actually had to ask for someone to repost theirs because in frustration, I trashed it to keep it from launching. Another is that iTunes tends to like lagging out on me. Alot. Adding or removing music take a lifetime, as does syncing my ipod, even if nothing is changing on it. My music collection isnt ginormous, its around 26 gb last time I checked (including vids), and my music files are only about 8-12 mb each, so its not like im playing apple lossless or flac or anything. And safari also likes to lag out and freeze up alot lately too, especially on pages with javascript like myspace. But today I encountered the mother of all bugs. After boot up, I noticed a window stuck behind the login screen, but I couldnt click it or anything. Then, when I got to my desktop, heres what I was amazed to see, with moving loading bar and all: (btw, the menubar dealio is because LigerEnabler hadnt started up yet. I wanted to grab that pic before it was too late) And thats not all. After trying to reboot and having it succesfully shut down, it was stuck at the grey apple for a half hour before i realized it wasnt booting. And when I checked into windows (with macdrive installed) i was suprised to see more than half my files and folders gone. The only things left were the applications folder and a few other ones, but my users folders were gone along with library and system. I was about 20 seconds away from trashing my entire drive when I decided to give DiskWarrior 4 try, and sure enough, I'm now back to my old (and super bloated) install of 10.4.10. Has anyone else had anything even remotely close to these issues? I know, I know, clean install. But I'm trying to hold of until leopard (or a decent beta, maybe 9a527..?) comes out that I can use full time, so that i can just trash all my {censored}e and start fresh with a brand new os. Maybe i have an early form of a mac virus or something. Eskun
Perhaps Apple's idea of "keep off of illegal {censored} you are not supposed to be on"? :censored2: Don't see how they could have done it but I've read more posts like this on intarnets. I decided to stick with mah macbooks default updated OS X, will buy Leopard the day it hits the shelves here in Sweden. But seriously, perhaps its Apple secretly taking over your computer? ;p Oh {censored}, I definately have to learn to read better before posting, ignore the above.. @_@ Thought I was in the 10.5 section of the forum, but I guess I wasn't after all.. xD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61455-very-strange-bugs-in-my-mac-os-hmmm/#findComment-438379 Share on other sites
borisbadenov
WHy are you posting in the 10.4 section when you are obviously working with Leopard. Oh, and by the way, if no one told you yet, well, Leopard is not yet a stable build. So expect the bugs. borisbadenov
Well spotted Numbers!! I go now to stand in the corner. I just based my initial judgement on the fugly folder icons and the menu bar, that it is semitransparent and the apple appears to be black, not blue (and lit from below) My bad. (though I do not know why anyone would want those folder icons.)
