Hi everyone. I am trying to install OS X on my laptop:

Dell Inspiron 1100

Windows XP Home SP1

2GHz Celeron processor

512MB RAM

Intel 82845GL graphics

I'm using the "deadmoo" image, following Andrew Escobar's guide. I've made it to step 5 without incident, and am now trying to boot into OS X to download and burn the Darwin installer CD.

When I boot my computer, the chain0 bootloader appears with the "Mac OS X" option. I choose it and select my second partition from the volume list. This results in the following error:

Error parsing plist fileLoading Darwin/x86

If starting up with the -v flag, I get the error above followed by:

Loading kernel mach_kernel
Loading HFS+ file [mach_kernel] from 4220290

In both cases, I am immediately returned to the volume list after the messages.

Given my low level of experience with this process, I can't seem to figure out how to solve the problem to allow me to boot into OS X. My initial thought was that the disk image I'd downloaded had become corrupt, but I'd like to avoid redownloading and recopying the image if it's not necessary. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Lauren

You might have a corrupt deadmoo image, which is about 3 releases behind and is not an install but just an old VMWARE image. Something newer will work better. Inspiron 1100 seems to be supported: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...l_Inspiron_1100
Dell Inspiron 1100 P4 2.0 ghz (SSE2 only, PAE), 1 Gig ram, Intel 845GL, Onboard AC97 sound, 60GB HD, Intel Extreme Graphics Native install works fine using Maxxuss' DVD patch 1.1. Needed to manually install AppleAC97Audio.kext to get audio working. I lost QE for my graphics. I believe under 10.4.1, AppleIntel830.* files provided that support.
