WaxTrax!
I got this new el-cheapo illuminated USB keyboard from newegg. The illuminated part works great....in windows. You see, the illumination part is tied to the scroll lock key -- you have to press the scroll lock key to get it to light up, and this works fine at the BIOS screen and in Windows, but not in Mac. Does anyone know of a way around this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6133-is-there-a-scroll-lock-key-alternative/ Share on other sites

That's rather {censored}. Weird that the keyboard is os-bound. You'd think a light switch would be independent. Even more weirder that they uses scroll lock key for it. Maybe there are 3rd party apps for os x to attach command to keys, but I doubt that would help if os X doesn't detect the key at all. Are you sure that this keyboard is Mac-compatible? If so, didn't it come with a driver for it? If so, it probably still wouldn't work because it would then be a PPC-Tiger version, maybe there'll be an update for x86 this year, since the Intel-Mac will come out this year, keep your finders crossed, but I wouldn't bet on on it...sorry. MacFeast
Maybe you could give it a try with the soldering iron, hardwire the LEDs to the power source Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6133-is-there-a-scroll-lock-key-alternative/#findComment-38679 Share on other sites
