Hi guys..

I'm new to this forum, but I do appreciate everything that's been done to ease the installation of OSX86 - you guys are truly amazing!

I have a question - I have a laptop with the following specs:

Dell Inspiron 1521 (brand new)

AMD Turion TL-56, 2GB RAM, ATI x1270 videocard.

I've tried installing uPhuck's 10.4.9 on this machine, but the install always hangs at the "extracting files" phase.

I've tried selecting only the AMD and universal kernels (separately, never together), and then I install miscellaneous drivers and such... however, I can't figure out why the install keeps hanging at that screen.

Is it just taking a really, really long time to install? Or should I run the installation using a specific command prompt?

Any help you offer would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

Thanks for the help Meilo...

I even tried the Jas installation (10.4.8) to no luck...

One thing that I failed to mention was that I was trying to install on a USB 2.0 external hard-drive - could that be an issue?

(Most installs here are done on IDE drives - I've never seen anyone attempt a USB installation before...)

I never had any luck with uphuck releases, but if you have an amd system, try Tubgirl ones, actually trying out Tubgirl 10.4.10 AMD SSE3 "Test 1" and everything seems to work just fine.

Still looking to install this, and yet haven't had any luck.

Of the three OSX variations I've tried (JaS 10.4.8, uPhuck 10.4.9 universal, uPhuck 10.4.9 AMD), none seem to install on my USB external drive.

Could it be that I'm getting these errors because I'm not installing locally to an IDE device?

Please help guys - anything would be appreciated.
