Dr. Evil
I've seen a lot of people modifying Linux distros to look a bit like OS X, an example is here. Just wondering, does anyone know of a linux distro to attempts to imitate Mac OS X out of the box?? Think it would be pretty nice, since I'm not a huge fan of GNOME look out of the box. If such a distro doesn't exist (I have googled, butdidn't find much), how about creating one. Would it be difficult to modify say a Ubuntu install disc to install different themes, icons, and apps by default. For example, a dock application. Are any newer Linux releases coming with Compiz fuzion out of the box. Now that would be a nice 'out of the box' feature! thoughts? enzobelmont
you can install any version of kde 3.5, then go to www.kde-look.org to get themes for everything. style: use baghira iconset: use glossy project then you're done. to more info go to: http://baghira.sourceforge.net/OS_Clone-en.php Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60932-linux-distro-that-imitates-os-x-look-and-feel/#findComment-432433 Share on other sites
Alessandro17
Dreamlinux tries very hard to imitate OS X look and feel. Unfortunately I find it quite buggy, but YMMV: http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=dreamlinux Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60932-linux-distro-that-imitates-os-x-look-and-feel/#findComment-432555 Share on other sites
Dr. Evil
probably the best thing to do IMHO is install Ubuntu 7.04, which comes with compiz support out of the box, and good driver support. Then install Mac OS X icon sets, and a dock.
