Juri
Days ago I used to get VGA working on the card, but when i attached my new LCD on the card through DVI, osx got black screen after loading the grey apple animation. I thought it may be a driver problem or so? It is 10.4.9 with Natit driver. Could someone give some hint on it? Thanks as a side note, is it possible for two lcd monitors (DVI+VGA) working together as a dual ? The problem is getting the magic EDID numbers for your new monitor. I have a ATI mobility x1600 in my laptop and it works great with DVI output. While I use ATIINJECT instead of NATIT (see my signature) the procedure for editing the playlists are the same. The best info for getting and inserting these numbers is on the Atiinject page in my sig... unless someone knows an easier method. By the way I really recommend KEXThelper for manipulating kexts, it is available here and saves you a lot of typing in terminal. good luck, ninetto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60885-how-to-get-dvi-working-on-x1650/#findComment-432097 Share on other sites
Juri
Thanks ninetto!! u brought me some light on this I have read the post for instruction but I'm not so sure about the EDID thing. I have extracted the EDIDs of my two monitors. However how am i supposed to insert them? is it like <key>LVDS,EDID</keys> <data>..(EDID of monitor 1)..</data> <data>..(EDID of monitor 2)..</data> <key>DFP1,EDID</keys> <data>..(EDID of monitor 1)..</data> <data>..(EDID of monitor 2)..</data> ? ninetto
OK, I am not an expert on this BUT from my experience with Atiinject I can tell you the following: the LVDS refers to the "native" LCD screen of laptops... meaning in your case: ignore/delete this entry... or it could be that you might have to insert the EDID data from your "primary" monitor here... I would try ignoring/deleting first. the DFP1 refers to the graphic ports of your card, either DVI or VGA... after getting the EDID of your monitors, you must format these numbers correctly (see atiinject page, i can't remember if the number have to be in blocks of 7 or 8 or 9)... It is best to copy your original kexts onto the desktop, then make the changes (with PLAYLIST EDITOR or TERMINAL!) and -after backing up the originals - use KEXTHELPER to insert the modified kexts into your system. You might have to do some experimenting... One last note: did you also try using a VGA-adapter on your DVI port? This might be a simpler solution for a start. good luck, ninetto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60885-how-to-get-dvi-working-on-x1650/#findComment-432339 Share on other sites
