Davejb
I tried the forum search, got rather odd results... Anyway, I'm running the uphuck 10.4.9 ir2 with the Pascal 10.4.10 update, all the apps that I've installed so far work fine, toast 8, Safari beta, iWork 8, and so on. I tried to install Office 2004 and the installer comes up, bounces a few times, and disappears. I then tried the drag and drop to the applications folder and the individual apps do the same thing, anyone run in to this before? I won't say where I got Office 2004 from but it's just as legal os the osx I'm running Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60852-office-2004-wont-install/ Share on other sites
ParkAvenger
Yuck, if you've got iWork you have no reason to want M$ Office. If you need .doc functionality just download NeoOffice instead. It's free, and less {censored} than Office. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60852-office-2004-wont-install/#findComment-431907 Share on other sites
Proteo
uphuck 10.4.9 ir1 and ir2 have this issue with all PPC applications. I'm afraid that there is no solution for it (aside reinstalling using another installation DVD, perhaps ir3). BJMoose
Yes, this is a known problem with the first two 1.4i versions. I can vouch for it working properly with r3. Davejb
Thanks all, I'll go get NeoOffice. I have yet to be able to find ir3, and I don't feel like reinstalling at the moment anyway. herbalb
I had exactly the same problem (not with uphuck but with an other release). I just re-installed Qucktime (not via auto-update) and then Office and some other apps that needed rosetta worked fine. I don't know if this works for you but it definitely worked for me - so just give it a try. If this won't help you should think of getting VMWare or Crossover in order to run Windows Office on Mac.
