Hi guys.

I have previously tried a JaS release and 2 of the uphuck 1.3 releases. I first tried to use the DVD to install but later discovered that it won't work because my DVD drive is not SATA. So I investigated the VMWare installation method. I have setup VMWare multiple times in accordance with help given to people with problems similar to those I encountered during my first attempts to install MACOSX but to no avail.

So... before I toil with multiple downloads again and multiple failed installation attempts, I thought I would ask you brilliant people for some initial advice. I'm asking, basically, which do you think is the best "version" or release for me to try. I have previously spent days trying to install a certain version of osx only to find out that there "was no kext for your motherboard"... I'm not so hot with kext and patching... I've not tried anything like that yet. So which release is more likely to fit my hardware? Any ideas?

Here are my system specs for those people still reading :D

I'm in the same point! I got 2 pc AMD and Intel, well I tried my 3 copies of MACOSx86 Jas 10.4.8 and uphuck 1.4a/1.4i, I can't install it properly.

My machines:

Mobile Athlon 64 3200+

VIA K8 (VT3838+8235)

ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility (But when installation begins, it sais VESA 2 ATI 9600)

1GB Ram

60GB HD

Intel Core2Duo E6700

Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6

4GB RAM

ATI Radeon X1600 Series

SATA Maxtor 250 GB (x2)

Any suggestion, a bit of help, please? Many Thanks!!

You should to choose customize install (uphack 10.4.9 for example) with Minimal options as is - main system + patch/kext for your hardware.

We discuss about this problem yesterday (on other forum), this problem was existing also on Acer Ferrari 3200. The system was started up at the end

UPhuck is only for AMD, for intel use JaS 10.4.8

AMR9700 it's AGP interfaced grcard so you need to choose agp kext + ati kext (not a mobile graph kext, i think).

Also SATA controller may crash a hackintosh system. Try to use IDE + patch for intel logonwindow (on C2D CPU)

@Arhopkins3: Sorry, I don't have any experience with your motherboard, although many here have gotten those chipsets to work.

@Swos: I did build a system with your same Gigabyte board and same video card. I was able to use both JaS and uphuck successfully, with just some minor tweaking to the ethernet. I would follow InsaneDevice's advice and install as little as possible to see just what your system needs and doesn't need.
