XtreX
Hi Just wondered why my CPU Information isn't correct. I remember that it was correct when I checked it after the update to 10.4.10. Could it be because I've changed AppleSMBIOS.kext to an older one to get Adobe CS3 working? BJMoose
This can happen with either of the two changes you mention. It's only cosmetic though. It doesn't actually change your CPU speed. About this Mac gets its info from a file named "AboutThisMac.strings". You can edit this file pretty easily. A search of this forum or a Google search will show you how to make the necessary changes. XtreX
Thx! For those who want to know it's in /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/*your language*.lproj/AboutThisMac.string Greetz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60837-false-cpu-info-because-of-applesmbios-change/#findComment-432109 Share on other sites
XtreX
I have another question. I have to CPU frequencies at the same time?! Once the right one 2.13 but also 3.8... What's wrong here? Hackintosh:~ gil$ sysctl -a hw | grep cpuhw.ncpu: 2 hw.activecpu: 2 hw.physicalcpu: 2 hw.physicalcpu_max: 2 hw.logicalcpu: 2 hw.logicalcpu_max: 2 hw.cputype: 7 hw.cpusubtype: 4 hw.cpufamily: 1114597871 hw.cpufrequency: 2130000000 hw.cpufrequency_min: 3800000000 hw.cpufrequency_max: 3800000000 hw.ncpu = 2 hw.cpufrequency = 3800000000 hw.availcpu = 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60837-false-cpu-info-because-of-applesmbios-change/#findComment-433576 Share on other sites
BJMoose
Could it be that this is reporting each core is 2.13 and the total power of your chip with both cores is 3.8? I know we would think it should add up to 4.26, but maybe it some kind of equivalency. Just a guess.
