Hi,

I'm planning on building a Hackintosh this week with a Q6600. I'm debating if I should get a P35 chipset mobo. Has anyone had luck with P35 mobos? Most rave successes seem to be with the 975Xs. I was thinking of getting a abit IP35 Pro, or possibly a GIGABYTE GA-P35-DQ6 or ASUS P5K Deluxe/WIFI-AP.

I've succesfully installed OSX86 10.4.8 on my GIGABYTE GA-P35-DQ6

it installed and booted okey, but the CD-ROM (PATA), Ethernet, Sound needs patching.

Usb working, firewire working.

I installed yesterday, today I will try to get everything running.

It seems after looking at the compatibility list that it is running like the P35-DS3R

Same thing works/dosen't work.

So i will try to install the same drivers that made the P35-DS3R running.

I'll come back to you!

Those who have had successful P35 installations, how exactly did you go about it?

In my case, I have an Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi and with everything disabled except for the ICH9R (AHCI mode) and USB, I can't boot to the installer with uphuck 1.4i r3. Iget "waiting for root device" and the DVD drive then spins down.

However, with uphuck 1.2 I can get through the installer format my HD and everything, but on first boot I get the error "mach_kernel not found." I'm thinking because it can't see the ICH9R?

AFAIK, my only big big difference from what everyone else is doing seems to be that I'm using a serillel IDE -> SATA adapter for my DVD drive. Since uphuck does not support the JMicron IDE port, how is everyone else hooking up their DVD drive?

I manged to get everything running now.

This is how i installed Jas 10.4.8:

1. Got Waiting for root device, Fixed by Placing the IDE cd-rom as Master inseed of slave.

2. Installed jas 10.4.9 combo update, worked.

3. Installed koolkal 10.4.10 update, woked.

4. Got low disk speed, Switched to AHCI mode in bios, worked.

5. Patched my ethernet with RTL1xxx v2 , worked

6. Patched my wirelesscard, worked.

7. Patched the sound with a patch for 889 I found at the forum, worked.

Running at full speed now, 89 points in xbench disktest.
