Hello,

After a thorough installation of the 10.4.9 uphuck 1.3 DVD, I found myself stuck on a menu. And unlike my earlier questions and problems, searching google and reading your forum+wiki didn't result in any information regarding this problem. I tried my best, so can you please help me?

Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132
1007 memory
VESA v3.0 15MB (Intel®865G Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS)

Use ^v keys to select the startup volume.

   [hd(0,1) Untitled]

Press Enter to start up Darwin/x86 with no options, or you can:
Type -v and press Enter to start up with diagnostic messages
Type ? and press Enter to learn about advanced startup options

boot:_

I have tried Enter; -v, then Enter...and anything I could think of: platform=x86pc; platform=acpi, but the menu just quickly (real quick) refreshes and stays at the exact same position. Also known as getting NOWHERE.

Computer (old, but should still work according to Internet):

Intel P4 HT 2.4ghz (SSE2)

Intel D865GBF Motherboard

Audio, Lan & Video: On-board

2x 512 DDR400

Kodak 16x DVD-R @4x with Nero

LG External USB DVD Writer

Microsoft Wireless G MN-730 PCI

USB->PS/2 Wired Mouse/Wireless Keyboard

Extra:

Hitachi 250GB SATA II (MB supports up to SATA I only)

Western Digital 7.5GB as PATA Primary Slave

Installation:

NEC DVD RW as PATA Secondary Master (&Master pin set correctly of course)

Western Digital 60GB as PATA Primary Master (&Master pin inserted correctly too)

Process:

1.Back-up

2.Reboot

3.-v, enter

4.English, please

5a.Utilites>Disk Utility>Erase Windows XP Partition

5b.NTFS into Mac OS Extended (Journal)

5c.Renamed to "Untitled" (No Quotes)

6.Chose "Untitled"

7.Intel SSE2, All Intel Kernels (3), Intel Drivers, USB Driver, Temperature, Wireless Card Driver, Firefox, Adium, All Multimedia except for Gimp

8.Pretty normal install, no problems

9.Restarts by itself (count-down)

Progress:

Still at boot menu, can't start 10.4.9 after installation! : d

I was thinking: Even though I have no operating system, I still have access to Utilities (Terminal) on the DVD. I just don't know how to use it..

Well, this place seems pretty friendly. I look forward to reading some constructive comments.

Enthusiastically,

:P

Choose only one and only one kernel and for your CPU choose one of the universal kernels or the one which has Intel in the name.

Thanks for replying, blacknight!

So, I only get to choose one from the [Kernel] menu..

Anyway, I chose the Intel SSE2, and it's currently installing.

(yn) I really hope this works.

THANKS A LOT! : )

i got it working this morning

i chose the intel kit, intel sse2 kernel, all the relevant intel patches, and usb+wireless driver.

some of the things i might have done to fix it were:

re-partition the whole drive to use MBR (Master Boot Record) -go to utilites/disk utilities on the dvd>select the whole hard drive>Partition tab>options>MBR

restore optimal default bios options by pressing f2 when rebooting>last tab>restore optimal defaults

mn-730 wireless and ethernet work when i add in a line in the system files

my cf card in my usb card reader shows up, but my usb thumbdrives are not recognized.

any ideas on how to enable usb for my thumb drives on this intel board (d865gbf)???

okay, i found out that full-speed (12mbps) usb works.

but hi-speed (480mbps?) doesn't.

if anyone knows how to enable hi-speed usb, can you tell me.

also, i have no idea what platform i am, x86pc or acpi??

my cpu is intel 2.4ghz with hyper threading technology.
