Hi

I've got a problem with my 8800GTS 640. I know that there arent any drivers out there etc. I'm not hoping for 3d acceleration or similar stuff...

After the Installation of 10.4.8 I wrote my wanted resolution (1920x1200x32@60) in the boot config file and it works. The actual problem is that when I resize or move windows there are some strange artefacts (dont know how to call it so i made a screenshot).

Does this has anything to do with the refresh rate? Or maybe some graphic driver option that doesnt work with no drivers? Does anybody know what I could do?

Hmm, Im not that sure... I think its likely an application based problem. If I take scrolling for an example. In Finder and Safari there are artifacts when I scroll through pages (or folders) but in Firefox I can scroll without any problems. Thats why I hope that there is an Apple specific Option (which works only in true Apple Apps and therefore not in Firefox) which could be disabled.

Hey, wake up...

You are discussing about how bad Aqua works without a fully supported video card... that's almost insane :D

It works, or it doesn't... between, it's a no man's land.

Sorry guys, just have to wait for drivers from DiaboliK (and I'll buy my own 8800 GTX within a second)

Just hoping someone will find the solution before the G90 is released in November... because after that, everything starts again

hmm, actually you're right...

Hope dies at last ^^ (is there such a figure of speech in english?!)

Thx man, thx a lot!

I've updated to 10.4.10 with kernel 8.10.1 and installed the kexts from diabolik (They aren't officially available on his page but they're still in the directory. I took the "NVidia.8x00.Kexts.mpkg.zip".) My 8800GTS still isn't recognised by the system but the tearing disappeared as you said.
