Hi,

Just acquired a new machine, the specs

Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard - based on nForce-650i SLI chip set

XFX 8600GTS

4GB RAM

SATA2 500GB hard drive connected on motherboard

Core 2 Quad CPU

I would like to install OSX on this new machine (replace my current machine - see sigs).

How do I go about getting OSX onto this machine, have tried to move hard disk from current machine to new machine and machine kept rebooting. I know that I have to remove certain kext and install new kext. Which one to remove and which one to install? I have access to a windows machine with MacDrive installed.

If new installation needed, this is a much preferred method. Which distributions? Uphuck or TubGirl or JAS???

I tried JAS 10.4.8 and it failed to see my hard drives.

Maybe the nForce chip set is new and there is no support for it???

I know that the VGA nFore 8xxxx series are not supported at the moment....

Cheers

Well, I guess no-one answered because the answers are there in the forums....

I saw that almost new questions concerned how to install on this or that motherboard and which OSX "versions/distributions"

Well, this is what I figured out after "some" research...

The new motherboard that I have uses NForce 430i, which is MCP51, it seems that there are some people still confused between NForce4 and the version for NForce 410/430 (Whatever it is called by NVidia). This version of Nforce seem to have limited support within OSX, I have I/O error when using "medevil" NForce4 driver with SATA drive....

So the only option for me is to use PATA if I want to use OSX with my new quad core machine.....

Anyway, I installed uphuch_1049_v1.4ir2 on this PATA, the installation went fine, but when reboot I got kernel panic. This occured when OSX trying to "Start CPU0...."....

what options do you need to set in the BIOS or kernal flags to avoid the kernel panic ????

If someone could give me hints, it would be appreciated...... the CPU I have on this motherboard is Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600....
