Ouch
Currently if you want full compatibility you need to run an Intel chipset with the GMA900 graphics controller built in. You also need a processor that supports SSE3 i.e a Celeron D or a late Pentium 4 (Hyper Threading is a plus). To be honest this specification is likely to change a lot in the new year when we start seeing intel based macs arriving with newer chipsets and graphics cards. I'n my oppinion if your looking to future proof then hold off buying until after the january expo. My current spec for my osx86 dev box is Celeron D 2.53Ghz Asus P5GD1 Mobo with GMA900 Graphics 1 Gig RAM 80GB Seagate ST380817AS Serial ATA Hard Disk Cheap DVD-RW Drive This was a budget machine that only cost me £190 plus the addition of some generic stuff i had lying around: case, psu monitor etc. It lacks a firewire port which a bit of a pain, and i would have liked a p4ht cpu but that would have broken the budget. Technobob
You are better off buying a Mac as these hacked version of Mac are not support by Apple or will be autherized for any updates. Ouch
That is true, there is still a premium on price for a mac but if you want the best performance it is probably the way to go. On the other hand that kind of advice would make forums like this pointless...
