I have been reading and enjoying all the work that has been done here to get people into the OSX experience, and have thus decided to build my very own Hackintosh! I do not want to waste your time so I will get right to my most important requirements 1. Will the following setup perfectly run, and by that I mean will it have all the functions and run all the inbuilt software of the OS (Imovie, Iphoto etc), within OSX? GIGABYTE Intel GA-945GZM-S2 Socket LGA775 motherboard(Will the sound work? will usb work? sata? onboard graphics? will all the eye candy be there?) Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 1.6GHz 1MB 800Mhz FSB LGA775 Mushkin EM 996527 DDR2-800 2GB (2 * 1GB Sticks) Kit CL5 320gb Seagate HDD 2. My most important requirement Can I install and use the new Final Cut Pro? if not what do I need, if yes hell yea! This machine is going to be a training machine for myself to learn Final Cut on, I live in South Africa so if you guys recommend other hardware please bare with me as I post what I have in the far South that would be the same as what you guys advise. Please let help me out here guys becuase it can all be a little overwhelming esspecialy when it comes to motherboard choices, I want the full experience without breaking the bank, but it has to be able to do video! Here's what the wiki says: Everything works! Out of the box: SATA,ATA,USB work, GMA950 works with QE/CI. Don't install anything extra from the DVD, you're asking for kernel panic!Network needs this driver (here's the thread) Sound is fully working with skippyretard's AzaliaAudio883.pkg - use the 6 port custom install! Sounds good... OS X is running brilliantly on my computer! Maybe a recommendation: You don't need such fancy ram, it's not going to do anything for you, unless you want to overclock. You can get any type of ddr-2 533 or 667 ram, it will be identical, and you can still get good reliable stuff that's guaranteed. I can also recommend rather getting an e4400 cpu, the performance will be much better, and it's not too much more than the e2140. This setup will run final cut, but for good motion performance, i recommend a better gfx card, geforce 7-series is good. But it will work 100%! If you have any questions on setup etc. feel free to ask me! BTW, where do you stay? If you have downloaded os x 10.4.8 or better can you pls send me a copy, I would love that.
