Bluejacky
Can't wait for the 2600XT driver, so plan to buy a new graphicCard. I saw some post said the N 7600GS 256MB works perfect on MacOS. So how about 7600GT 256MB? What is the difference between these two card, and which one is better for build a Mac box for editing work (FinalCut) ? BTW, I saw ECS nVidia Geforce 7600GT 256MB(SLI) on ebay. Any one use this card? Will it supported in Mac OS X? Technobob
I use a XFX nVidia GeForce 7600GT XXX Edition and it works perfect using Titan driver If your a gamer and have the money go for the GT model it's a better card Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60352-what-is-the-difference-of-them-which-one-is-better-for-macos/#findComment-428835 Share on other sites
Bluejacky
Thank U for your answer. I play games some time, but not a gamer. I want to do some editing work, but don't have budget to buy a nVIDIA FX porfessional card. And I don't have any experience to flash rom with 512MB card. So I can only select a safe one which 100% support by Mac. The card I show you on ebay support SLI, so I can upgrade the system by add another same card. What u think, any advice? If you can boot from a floppy and type two words, you can flash your card. It's that easy, don't let that that stop you. Technobob
OK SLI does not work in Mac at this time that I'm aware of Stay with 256mb cards they are easier to get working If you feel you need an FX card then go with the GT because GS cards typically use slower DDR2 RAM and the core clock is much lower. My card uses DDR3 RAM and the core is 650MHz vs the GS version that is I think 450MHz, I picked up my card for $130CAD. P.S your eBay link does not work Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60352-what-is-the-difference-of-them-which-one-is-better-for-macos/#findComment-428853 Share on other sites
hackintom
I had a 7600 GS Fanless, which I've bought because I had a great deal at a local shop and I've read that it was totally compatible with osx86. But, this card is {censored} !! Read some tests on the internet, this model should never have been released... it's a total technical non-sense. I've just sold it. Whereas the 7600 GT is great, big bang for your bucks... But if you plan on gaming, choose a 7900 GT BTW, even if SLI isn't supported on mac, I'd like to say this: it's a geek thing, since the performance bump is absolutely not 100%, and by the time you will have/want to upgrade, you'd better have to CHANGE your gpu instead of buying a second old {censored} one... Geeks using SLI GPUs (or CrossFire) buy 2 GPU at 1 time, not one GPU, then later a second one Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60352-what-is-the-difference-of-them-which-one-is-better-for-macos/#findComment-428899 Share on other sites

bixit
I use a XFX nVidia GeForce 7600GT XXX Edition and it works perfect using Titan driver If your a gamer and have the money go for the GT model it's a better card yes, the "XXX Pervert Edition" !! It's a great fps-per-dollar buy. The one you can get from NewEgg lists Core 650/RAM 1400 I think, but everybody in the comments including me got an 800MHz core & 1700MHz RAM. It's a little over $100 now for the XFX 7600GT XXX model there. Get that, original poster guy. DiaboliK even wrote a driver installer for it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60352-what-is-the-difference-of-them-which-one-is-better-for-macos/#findComment-429243 Share on other sites

I have not used for years. Can I do this by boot from DVD or usbdrive? BTW, Which word? You are right, GT is much better , now I am just thinking 256MB or 512 mb ?? So, yes forget about upgrade to SLI or CF. And I think multi/duo GPU card will be the furture, it has better performence than 2 card in SLI mode. yes, the "XXX Pervert Edition" !! Headrush69
I have not used for years. Can I do this by boot from DVD or usbdrive? Yes. Many links on the net for doing this. Basically any media that can boot into dos will work. My machine doesn't have a floppy drive, but I have a CD that has dos. I boot from that and then I have the flashing program and the flash rom on my usbstick. (since its writeable.)
