cyberslice
Well, on a different thread, people have been saying that you need to install the latest version of uphuck. 10.9 v1.4. I have sucessfully gotten to format the hard drive and see it in disk utility, but am not sure what kernels and options to select. 1) What patches do i need to select of the following: loginwindow10.4.4, Remove CPUpowermanagement kext, appleACPIPlatform 10.4.8, remove thermal kexts, verbose mode? 2) Under the nvidia drivers, there is natit 0.1, natit 0.2, titan, and nvidia mobility. whats the difference between these and which one should i select? 3) Will installing all options under system give me a panic or is installing all of them fine? Here is my setup: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS 160GB SATA Hard Drive Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Webcam Will update later with what 10/100 Network Card i have If/when I sucessfully complete the process, I will start a new detailed thread with the steps needed to sucessfuly install it and lots of pictures. And donate some money to the project. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59896-new-dell-inspiron-1420-and-mac-osx/#findComment-426645 Share on other sites

macosx77
Finally I got succesfull installation of MAC on Dell 1420Still we are waiting for some Drivers like Ethernet/Sound/Wireless Rest of the things are working fine Mac installation Procedure for Dell 1420 & 1520Installation Guide Or What is this? This guide tells you how to install OSX 10.4.9 on your Intel or AMD Windows machine, dual booting with Vista. This guide is for information purposes only.Read this before reading the guide:There are only two ways to install OSX 10.4.9 legal on your Windows computer: 1. Become an Apple developer 2. You can also buy an Intel Mac (I would recommend the Mac Pro!), install Windows Vista on it using Apple’s Boot Camp and remove OSX completely, so that you have a legally bought osx86 licence. This method isn’t confirmed and some people say it’s illegal because the EULA says that you aren’t allowed to install OSX on non-Apple hardware. This means that for most people it is ILLEGAL to install osx on their computer. If you aren’t an Apple developer, leave page now. This site is in no way liable or responsible for the actions of its visitors. IMPORTANT: DOWNLOADING OSX86 (a prepatched OSX 10.4.8 install image) IS ILLEGAL. Don’t ask me where you can download OSX86, not in a comment, not by e-mail, not by phone, not by sending a telegram and not by any other way you can imagine. Just don’t ask me. If you don’t know it and still want it, become an Apple developer or BUY A MAC! You need a processor that supports at least SSE2 to make this work. You can check this with a program called CPU-Z (http://cpuid.com/cpuz.php).Got at least SSE2? Go on and install and dual boot OSX 10.4.8 and Vista on your computer (If you already have a working 10.4.8 configuration, scroll down to read the steps about updating to 10.4.9): 1. Get a prepatched OSX 10.4.8 install image, we’ll update to 10.4.9 in the next section. 2. Burn the image to an empty DVD recordable (+R or –R) Use your favorite burn program for this (I recommend Nero Burning Rom or Alcohol 120%) 3. Create at least 6GB unallocated space on your harddisk using Partition Magic: Start partition Magic >> Click on ‘Resize/Move Partition >> Move the slider to make the partition smaller and hit OK >> Click on ‘Apply’ >> Close Partition Magic 4. Click ‘START > Run…’ and type ‘diskpart’ (without quotes) 5. Type in (press enter after you typed in a line): list disk select disk [the number of your disk] create partition primary id=af list partition select partition [the number of your new osx partition] active (if this doesn’t work, try ’set active’ without quotes) 6. Insert the OSX install disk and reboot your computer, follow the installation steps on your screen. Don’t forget to choose ‘customize’ during the install and select the appropriate options. 7. After finishing the installation, OSX should boot up. Play with it for a few moments and then proceed to the next step. 8. Insert your Vista install disk and press reboot. 9. After booting the install disk, click repair system and press next. Open the command window and type ‘diskpart’. Then type: list disk select disk [the number of your disk] list partition select partition [the number of your windows partition] active (if this doesn’t work, try ’set active’ without quotes) 10. Reboot into Windows Vista. 11. Copy chain0 to the root of the Vista partition (mostly C:/) 12. Press WIN+R and type ‘cmd’. And type: bcdedit /copy {current} /d “Mac OS X” bcdedit /enum active bcdedit /set {ID OF YOUR OSX ENTRY} PATH \chain0 13. Now you can reboot your computer and you’ll see a nice dual boot menu! 14. You now have a fully working OSX 10.4.8 system. UPDATE TO 10.4.9: INTEL SSE3: 1. Make sure you have an Intel processor that supports SSE3. You can check this with CPU-Z. 2. Download koolkal’s reloaded combo update. 3. Install the update 4. That’s all! You now have a fully working OSX 10.4.9 / Vista dual boot system! Go to http://www.hackint0sh.org/ for support. UPDATE TO 10.4.9: INTEL SSE2 (only use this if your processor doesn’t support SSE3): 1. Make sure you have an Intel processor that supports at least SSE2. You can check this with CPU-Z. 2. Download koolkal’s reloaded combo update (SSE3 only, but that doesn’t matter if you use the following steps for installation). 3. Go to irc://irc.hackint0sh.org and join channel #1049 (you can do this with an IRC client like mIRC) 4. Read the topic and copy paste the download URL of the newest Intel SSE2 kernel in your browsers address bar and hit enter to download it. 5. Boot into OSX if you weren’t already in it. Backup your extensions folder (/System/Library/Extensions/) and mach_kernel (from your root). 6. Install the combo update, but don’t press restart afterwards! 7. Delete /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext (maybe not needed). 8. Unpack the 8.9.1 SSE2 kernel that you’ve downloaded from the IRC channel, rename it to “mach_kernel” and place it into root (overwrite the old kernel). You can do this in the command line using “cp /unpacked/kernel/path /mach_kernel” 9. Make sure AppleSMBios.kext is in your extensions folder, if not, copy it from the backed up 10.4.8 extensions folder and paste it in /System/Library/Extensions/ (you can do this in the command line using “cp -R /1048_backup/Extensions/AppleSMBios.kext /System/Library/Extensions/”) 10. Repair the disks permissions using Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities). Select your OSX partition, click the First Aid tab and click the Repair Disk Permissions button. 11. Restart your computer and start playing with your new 10.4.9/Vista dual boot configuration! Go to http://www.hackint0sh.org/ for support. 12. Read the topic and copy paste the download URL of the newest AMD SSE3 kernel in your browsers address bar and hit enter to download it. 5. Download dsmos.kext from the same channel. 6. Boot into OSX if you weren’t already in it. Backup your extensions folder (/System/Library/Extensions/), you can do this in the command line using “cp -r /System/Library/Extensions /1048/” and mach_kernel (from your root) (cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_old). 7. Install the update, but don’t press restart afterwards! 8. Unpack the 8.9.1 SSE2 kernel that you’ve downloaded from the IRC channel, rename it to “mach_kernel” and place it into root (overwrite the old kernel).
