these are the big 3 i need to get working (i understand wan isnt working as of now?)

either way, i need to get the lan and audio working and have no idea whats going on. ive read as much as i could about the nc6400 but whoever wrote the install tutorial for it didnt do a very good job as someone whos looking for an install tutorial obviously doesnt know about the os, so being basic about terminology and stuff is no good :(

either way, im very familiar with windows, im ok with linux, and mac well it may be based off the same kinda {censored}, but it aint the same to me as far as i know.

anyways, the lan is a broadcom netxtreme gigabit ethernet

and the audio im not sure what it is tbh. im sure its basic intel chipset stuff

wireless is 3145abg if that helps.

anyone able to point me in the right direction? i know i may have to hex edit some stuff, but everyone just says hex edited the file etc etc never what was changed, or in what file, or whatever.

Most of this information is from my Dell Latitude D800 guide, if you'd like a source.

LAN

This isn't your exact card, but it might just work.

1a) Download and unpack AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext.zip: http://www.mediafire.com/?8mzmtqmynjz

1b) Remove the Ethernet cable attached to your computer if it is attached.

2) Copy AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext to your /System/Library/Extensions/ folder.

3) Open up Terminal and type the following commands in:

sudo -s

After pressing Enter/Return, proceed to type in your password.

After that, set permissions by typing the following. Remember, these are two separate commands here.

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext

7) Exit Terminal and any other programs you may have open.

8) Reboot normally.

9) After successful reboot, plug in your Ethernet cable again. Go back into System Preferences and Network to make sure the light is green, not red. You may have to wait a few seconds for this to occur.

10) After you've confirmed you can connect to the Internet properly, I recommend another reboot to make sure everything is saved properly. After that, you should be ready to go.

Wireless

Check out some of these drivers: http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/

I recommend testing each one, if possible, starting with the one at the top under "Working". Once again, none of them match your exact card, but you'd be surprised.

Audio

Unable to help you here.

I've never had an issue with on-board audio, as it's always seemed to work for me automatically. It'd help if you could get some more information on the card itself, then perhaps you'd be able to get some more information on any OSX drivers out there.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi iLLNESS,

I'm a n00b too but I got Uphuck's 10.4.9 v1.3 installed and working on my HP NC6400 w/ Intel GMA 945 on first try using this guide. I'm dual booting with WindowsXP Pro since I use that for my day job.

Basically everything works even the Wireless card except the Ethernet card. Thats why I saw your post ... I'm looking into how to get my network card working. :)

Good luck to you. :)
