mikeman23
I've got a dell inspiron 6000 with jas 10.4.8 installed and the same kernal that came with that boot cd. I was wondering what would be the best way to conserve battery life and get the most out of this laptop time wise. Is there a program I can install or is there a confiq setting that i need to change. i have 1.25 gb of ram and a 1.83 ghz pentium m processor. thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59471-save-laptop-battery-life/ Share on other sites
JSn1™
I am using speedstep and it works fine. My normal battery time under Windows XP is normally 4.5 hours normal use. In Mac I was getting just 1:20, when i installed speedstep, now I have up to 3:45 to 4:00 hours. Turn off Wi-Fi when not using. Synaesthesia
Doesn't speedstep need an sse3 cpu? The pentium m is only sse2. Well do you have powermanagement at all? I mean the battery icon in your menubar. If not, get that (search for powermanagement.kext). Turn down your screen brightness, turn of wi-fi when not using, use the option to power down the screen after 1 minute...
