I am currently running 8f1099, installed natively from DVD.

The system is very stable, and performance is pretty good, and in-line with most reports in the forums.

SYSTEM: AOpen AK86L w/AMD 3400+ 64bit, 1GB (2x512), VIA KT800 Chipset, ATI9600Pro.

I have the usual problems, mono-sound, a few visual artifacts when I scroll the mouse, but nothing major.

I have the original 8f1111 dmg, and have attempted to patch it several times (from my installed 8f1099), just cannot figureout whats failing, (using the wesley patch from http://win2osx.net/wiki/index.php?/10-4-3-8F1111

I am continuing working on getting a nice Install DVD for 8f1111, (I have a HP7100, 3.2Ghz Intel, 915 MB w/ati x300 PCIX at work I want to try it on) but was wondering if I can simply UPGRADE my existing 8f1099 install without a bootable install DVD? Is it possible to patch this DMG/ISO and just do the upgrade from 8f1099?

Thanks in advance

HM

I would not recommend going the upgrade route, it's better to install a fresh copy. I tried the upgrade but got better performance doing a clean install.

Look in this forum for posts by JaS the patches are in PPF type and are easy to use. They use Maxxuss latest patches and include the 8F1111a update.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I will try the Jas patches, actually I think I may have already DL'd them.

I will list the procedure, maybe someone can find my errors:

As root or sudo'd Convert dmg to iso with hdiutil

Then mount it as R/W

Apply patches using PPF for OSX (click the ppf to avoid the selection error ;D)

Burn the DVD with discutils or SimplyBurns (a nice free app)

Boot from DVD and install - Hopefully

Any holes in this process or GOTCHA's that I am missing?

Thanks in advance

MH
