Sound Problem ac97 dell 8200

Ok so i have the ac97 chipset with kernal 8.8.1....i had sound but then it was the chipmunk thing and somehow i lost sound alltogether so im reinstalling the kext...i have a dell dimension 8200..i have 2 questions...

what do i replace in that....i read the post im just retarded..also when i do the chmod -R 644 *.plist is says *.plist no such file or directory.. any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks

I just installed Uphucks 10.4.9 v1.4i R3 in a Dell Dimension 8400 and it was pretty much plug and play.If your install is a little buggy why not give it a shot, I played with it on a GX270 as well with good luck. One more thing to try, if it is the high def AC'97 like on my 8400, try reinstalling the kext and move the speaker plug to the black port instead of the green. Worked for me.

Wait have u got a succesful install? and if so what distro did u use with your 8200?
