fustyler
I've just bought an Asus p5k-e with 2x500gb hardrive. Ultimately my aim is to do software RAID-0 with 50gb from each hardisk for OSX, and another 50gb RAID-0 for 64bit Vista. I've set up my hardrives as AHCI in SATA settings in BIOS. Package used for Uphuck 1.4r2 10.4.9 First attempt to make sure package is fine I created 50gb from one hardisk using MBR format, no RAID. Install goes through fine, system reboots and installation went fine. However I've noticed while in MBR format I'm unable to drag the disks to create a RAID volume. Second attempt I created 50gb from each of the two hardrives - GUID format, then created a 100gb striped volume RAID-0 volume. The installation finished, then reboots and I get apple.boot.plist cannot be found error. Third attempt I did the same as previous step but chose the Apple partition format, once again I get the apple.boot.plist error upon reboot. Has anyone managed to do RAID-0 volume from two hardrives to set up OSX and then another RAID-0 volume for Vista? This appears to be a painful process so far... NeSuKuN
you can't boot an apple or guid format, not on a pc. and raid isn't possible with mbr, you need a raid controller to accomplish this. fustyler
Even thought I can't boot it using GUID format, is it possible to boot off it in GUID format as long as it's not primary partition? Eg using Vista's bootloader? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59076-problem-software-raid-on-osx/#findComment-421390 Share on other sites
