I'v been using leopard for the past few days with no issues but today i had a crash that left my machine not able to boot it seems to be in some sort of loop. it goes to a blue screen with the progress wheel. any way I no longer have the disk I used to load leopard. so I installed tiger on a usb drive it will but into tiger but I need to access some files on the disk before I reformat it. But the disk does not show up in tiger. If i boot into single user i can see that the files are still there. i don't know how to get the files off. can anyone help me? ^_^

Ok, I have re-downloaded the leopard disk. I loaded it on an external drive. I can now see the drive that has my info but it tells me I don't have privileges to access the drive. how can I fix this? I really need to get this info off the drive before re- installing the os on it. can anyone help me?

Try this: boot into your Leopard dvd. Open disk utility from the menu, and select your drive with leopard installed. Do not select the volume on which you are having problems. This is based on personal experience. Now, select the "Repair Disk Permissions" button. This will take about 10 min, depending on the size of your drive. It will check each volume on the drive. If it gives you a message in green saying "permissions repaired successfully", try booting into your malfunctioning leopard installation. hopefully this helps.

:( I survived!!!, I reinstalled to the external drive again this time I was able to migrate the files off the internal disk.

once they were copied to the external I reinstalled to the internal drive and move my docs back! I love mac the migration tool was a life saver
