ninetto
Hello, I too had some troubles installing on my laptop, which is similiar to yours (ATI-mobility X1600)... after reading pages of whining and crying about uphuck's release, I was almost also ready to give up... but then another post pointed me in the right direction. UPHUCK has really done quite a job, providing people with all sorts of tools/possibilites, and therein lies the problem: which option to pick. The problems people have are almost always their "own fault" since they chose the wrong option or are too lazy to experiment a bit. That said, as a hip-hooray for all the developers out there, here is my advice: less is more. Only install that which you know. Here are the options I picked (from Uphuck version 1.3) INTEL 10.4.9 IOATAfamily.kext from 10.4.8 Universal kernel 3 with Speed Step Loginwindow from 10.4.5 NO VGA drivers ( I installed Atiinject after the clean install) other Drivers: AzaliaAudio, PowerManagement, Speedstep Application: all the media (Quicktime, etc) and also Word(!) The install went super-fast (like maybe 15 minutes) and worked perfectly, excepting tweaking the graphics with Atiinject - atiinject gives me pure DVI and DualDisplay on the ati mobility x1600! This is the first install where I have BOTH cpus recognized. (With JAS 10.4.8 only one was recognized. hope that helps, n.m.
