thevictor390
OK, this may be laughable, but since my parents don't like the idea of me messing with the good computer, it's what I'm stuck with. I'd like to get OS X going on this rig: Pentium III 1 GHz 512 MB RAM 30 GB HDD + 6 GB HDD (for MAC OS X?) (both IDE) SiS 300-series 32 MB graphics card VIA Audio (WAV) - at least that's what DXDIAG tells me Blelkin Wireless-g PCI card here's the biggest problem - 56x CD-ROM drive. No burner (I can use another comp), no DVD I know it's a beast but is there any way using virtual drives or something? After Ubuntu didn't work (sound and network issues) I'm starting to question the usefullness of that extra 6 GB I put in. oh, first post BTW! I was drawn in by an excellent tutorial for installing this. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58400-is-this-even-worth-trying/ Share on other sites

Dr. Hurt
wait so a Pentium 4 is sse3 but a Pentium III is not sse2?That's annoying... thanks anyway. Not all Pentium 4s have sse3. Older ones only have sse2. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/58400-is-this-even-worth-trying/#findComment-416972 Share on other sites
omfg
Pull the 30GB hd out of it and put it in the "good" computer and use it for MacOS X a MacOS install is very safe... *if* you have a dedicated drive to install to. (If your folks are worried, I'd disconnect the System drive completely before you begin work). abhi262
its worth it completely but seeing as you have no dvd drive, you can't install unless you use the deadmoo image which is very old + outdated. if you want to use vmware get some more ram.
