I have some interesting issues on preferences settings on my uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4.

I checked the "Show Airport status in menu bar" option in Network preference and enabled Traditional Chinese input in International preference. It is pretty strange that those settings would be reset and disabled every time I restart my machine. Any one knows the fix for these issues.

Thanks!

I experienced similar problems. Changes to System Preferences are often reset after reboot. Sometimes when I try persistently, the changes finally got kept. I found sometimes restore to system default (if you changed setting before) for a while then change to desired setting, and the new setting may be kept.

Any ideas???

PS - I installed JaS 10.4.8 and updated to 10.4.10.

Doesn't work still.

I tried changing the permissions of some preference files with the root account. However, it seems that even the root user can't change the permission of some preference files. How come? I thought root user can change anything.

I have some strange bugs, like when I reboot, frequently the wallpaper changes, the sounds get turned back on (like threepwood), and airport doesn't work. Nothing serious, but I also wonder why it happens...

Then again, I've installed 10.4.7, updated twice and transferred programs from a ppc mac via firewire, so I'm not surprised OS X is a bit messed up. I'm still super happy with it!!!

Hi guys,

I have managed to solve the problem.

What I did is to copy from Jas 10.4.8 DVD

1. /library/preferences/systemconfiguration/preferences.plist

2. /system/library/preferences/systemconfiguration/preferences.plist

to my hackintosh, repair disk & re-start. The setting STAY!!!!
