Hi,

i want to build my own Hackintosh but i need your help:

These are the components i want to buy:

- E6300 1,86 Ghz

- ARCTIC COOLING FREEZER 7 PRO

- Asus P5LD2-VM or Asus P5B-V

- MDT DDR2-800 CL5 PC2-6400 240 Pin KIT 2x 1024MB

- ATX Case

Which SATA HDD and SATA DVD Burner i should use?

I want to use a bootloader to switch between mac os and windoes for gaming, which NVIDA card i can use for both?

I want to overclock the E6300 to 2,8 or anything else, can i do this with these boards? Will Mac os run on this? I want to install uphuck v1.4i .

Thanks for your time and help.

Best regards Daniel

Ok Daniel, here it comes...

First of all, you won't be able to overclock a 6300@2,8Ghz with a P5LD2-VM.

It's not an overclocking card at all...

Second, be sure that your P5LD2-VM is "/C", meaning Conroe ready.

If it's not, C2D won't run.

Third, why buying 800Mhz DDR2 sticks, because you are stuck with the 266Mhz of the FSB of a P5LD2-VM ?

Fourth, my advise about the HDD is a 320Gb hitachi T7K500. The (T)7K500 means a lot, don't buy an old 7K500.

Fifth, I can't advise you any SATA DVD burner, I just don't know... but I'd like to know.

I guess any pioneer SATA DVD would work.

Sixth, you can use almost any nvidia card for windows and OSX, but not 8xxx series.

After all, considering the prices of these motherboards, my advise is a Gigabyte P35 DS3(R/P).

It's a bit more expensive, but the result is impressive.

And btw, have you thought about buying a Pentium 2160 instead of a E6300 ?

Dear hackintom,

thanks for advise. Is there any board which had great overclocking potential and is not so expensive like the Gigabyteboard?

And working with OSx?

The Asus P5B is no alternative for my plans?

Thanks for your time and help.

I'm overclocking my 6300 with my asus pl5d2-vm without any issues. Got my cpu up to 2.4 with stock fan. NO big change in temp. There is a guy who got it up to 3 ghz with better cooling. I mean from 1.83 to 2.4, that is enough for me. Check around the forums there is a post on how to overclock with this mobo.
