IamEvilHomer
I am trying desperately to get the broadcom in my presario C571 to work. My 10.4.9 installation recognised it and called it en1 according to my NetworkInterfaces.plist, but it does not show up in the System Profilier. I figured I might be able to get it to work if I could get it to turn on (there is a soft switch to turn the radio on that does not work in OS X). From the website for the linux driver for the bcm43xx I got this: http://bcm-specs.sipsolutions.net/RadioControl Seems like its not too hard to get the radio turned on, but it requires direct hardware access and I haven't written anything more than a pong clone. I am reading through Apple's documentation for driver developement but it seems like there is alot of extranious information. If anyone could give some information on writing to memory adresses, if it something fiarly simple I might be able to get it going. Or if I am completely off base in thinking this will work, please let me know. errandwolfe
EvilHomer, There is already an ongoing disucssion (several actually) on this problem. This is the most concise thread on the issue so far. The problem does not appear to be the switch. Instead the problem appears to be the mini PCI express bus that the wifi card plus into, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57842-possible-solution-for-c500-wifi/#findComment-413256 Share on other sites
