Howdy,

I'm pretty new to the Mac forums but i've been searching on how to get things set up with my new laptop the way i want them. I have a Toshiba a205-s4587. I've installed os x86 10.4.6 on this and it works like a charm. I've added a Belkin Wireless USB adapter to get my wireless up and running since i have not found any OSX drivers for the 802.11 ABG by intell. Still working out the Kinks on the sound as well. But my Main concern right now is the Battery Life. I've ready that under Power Saving Options there should be a choice for Battery Life but there is Not. I've tried to download DMG's like COCONUT Battery to get this function up and running on my laptop but its not compatable for whatever reason. Can anyone tell me how i can get the Battery level / Charge to show on my OSX? Or a program that WILL work with my version of OSX?

thanks!

David

Here is the hacked powermanagement kext you have to install:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=14912

It should enable the battery meter in the menubar and extra power options.

Just download Powermangement.tar.gz and follow the instructions.

Good luck on getting your laptop working!

Hey Tran THANKS..

but i'm getting an error saying that "the operation can not be completed because you dont have sufficient Privleges for "powerManagement.bundle"

what i've done is draged and droped the icon for power management from my drive to the folder that was stated in the knowledge.. and i get a message asking me if i want to replace the older file. I said Yes and thats the message i get. Any Ideas?

Put the file on the desktop first. Then drag it from the desktop to the folder states and there should be an authenticate on the message that comes up. You have click Authenticate and enter your password.

I can't be positive, but I think I'm remembering correctly...(don't have my Mac in front of me right this second.)

no problem.. Just move the PowerManagement.bundle thats inside the /system/library/systemconfiguration to trash and move the new one into /system/library/systemconfiguration. that woked for me.

Hi Guys,

I know I wasn't originally on this thread, but I had exactly the same problem (but for 10.4.8) on a dell 700m. Followed your instructions (especially the last bit about putting the power management bundle in the trash first), rebooted and it worked like a charm. Hurray.

Its also a good point too. Although I had been looking for this for sometime (a couple of weeks in google), until the original poster posted on the 17th, and it showed up in google, I would have never gotten to the link from 2006. So sometimes going over old territory can be beneficial.... :P

Now if only someone could write a kext so I could get my Intel 855 graphics to work, life would be so perfect... :o

.sab.
