Ok I've spent all day setting up my computers partitions with acronis using this guide Youtube.

Everything was going well, I had checked all my computers hardware and specifications at wiki.osx86project.org and as far as I was/am aware my pc is compatible.

So all I had to do now was place my burned dvd into my drive reboot and begin the install, but this is were it all goes wrong.... :(

It says beginning install, then all this white writing comes up, then nothing! Just stays on that screen and I can't get any further. I have taken a crappy photo on me camera phone as that is all I have....WTF...help

Anyway obviously I am here for help or advice as to what the problem is. Below I have posted a link about the specs of my pc, so hopefully sum1 can tell me what went wrong and why the install doesn't work.

My motherboard/ pc info in general

btw, I am trying to install [JaS] Mac OS X 10.4.8. thx in advance 2 anyone who helps.

The link to my motherboard my be wrong, I've just used EVEREST to check my systems specs and here’s some extra info I found out that may help you diagnose my problem.

I have:

Barracuda 7200.8 SATA NCQ 200826 Hard drive

Intel Pentium 4 524, 3.066 Ghz (Prescott) processor

Gigabyte GA-81915PM Motherboard

Can I install any OS X on this pc or should I give up entirely.

hope sum1 can help thx.

Ok I don't think I have an IDE drive, but I do have 2 external hard drives that connect via usb.

The problem does seem related to the fact that I have a SATA hard drive, and the waiting for root device is the message I get when trying to boot install from the dvd.

I got sum info off wiki.osx86project that says:

Q: When I try to install OSx86, I get the message "Still waiting for root device."

If the disk is SATA, set your bios settings to emulate or compatibility or something like that, NOT native or RAID or AHCI. Note: After changing the sata mode, if you also run windows off of the same/another HD on this controller, you may notice degraded performance and/or faliure to boot windows IF you change the sata settings.

Hope some one can tell me the likelihood of this being the only problem and if so direct me on how to go about the above quote so that I can finally install osx.

Thx everyone for the advice so far.

btw the drive I am trying to install from is a PHILIPS DVDR1628P1 DVD+RW/DVD-RW drive Link , I also have a LITE-ON DVD SOHD-16P9S DVD ROM Drive Link but when I try to boot the install disc from this one it doest even read the disc at all.
