Hey,

I've been having probems installing OS X onto my desktop, having successfully installed on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5630).

My configuration is this:

Motherboard: Asus P5RD2-VM

Processor: Intel Pentium D 930 - 3.0Ghz

RAM: 2Gb DDR2 - 533MHz

Graphics: ATi Radeon X1600 Pro - PCI-Express and ATi Radeon Xpress 200 - Motherboard

Hard Drive: Maxtor 200Gb SATA-II

I'm using the JaS 10.4.8 DVD with the patched Disk Utility. The install goes fine, until OS X boots. On a normal quiet boot, it just hangs on the grey "Apple" screen. When I boot using -v (verbose mode) it hangs after the following line:

... /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow: Login Window Application Started

I've applied the Login Window patch on the DVD and I've played around with the various patched you can install for the ATI X1x00 series, but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

MaidenFan

what a answer... :(

I have also the Problem that the System hangs with

... /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow: Login Window Application Started

I can shutdown the OS with the Powerbutton but there is no login screen anymore...

Can somebody explain how can "we" get back the Login Screen?

THX...

I too have had this problem....

As stated above , it was a video problem for me...

boot with the -s

/sbin/mount -uw /

cd /system/library/extensions

rm -R NVDA*

rm -R ATI*

rm -R Geforce*

reboot with the -v

If that doesnt work then -x -v

Work through the various video solutions for your card on this forum...

Oh and if you have an sli setup....

take one out...

Cheers,

Paul (kadmiff)
