Hi, I downloaded mac os x tiger and burned the iso to a disk but when i boot it up it shows a white screen with the apple logo, and a loading circle thing and does absolutely nothing, it was like that for hours until i hard rebooted my pc, there wasnt even any text, the iso image is 4.4gb but for sum reason the disk i burned is only 120-130kb =/ i have tryed lots of different iso managers to try and extract and mount it but it only mounts a tiny bit of the iso file, i think theres like a hidden directory thats not being picked up by any program i use, PLEASE HELP!!!

Regards

Well, here's a question....Did you download the actual Mac 0S X? Or did you download OS X86? 'Cause the first one won't work on a Windows based PC.

Second....Either you're burning a shortcut of your ISO to a disk, or your ISO didn't download, or you could be burning the torrent info to dowload the ISO....

Third...Maybe you should read the OS X86 Wiki, and if you really don't understand any of that, well, maybe you're better off just buying a used/refurbished Macbook, iMac, or Mac Mini.

make sure your using the actual file... no shortcuts, etc

also... something like this should be in the OSx86 section... not in Tiger

*cough* Look up *cough*

Excuse me, I had something in my throat. :police:

It's probably my fualt...I took an sad ammount of time to actually write that though....

Guys, he didn't burn a shortcut or an original disc but OSX86 since the DVD boots and he sees the spinning circle.

Try to add -v in Darwin so you can see what happens behind the Apple logo and see what prevents you from going any further.

Or it might be a bad burn. Oh, and the disk isn't 130kb... it's just you can't read HFS+ format in Windows so you don't see other files, but don't worry, they are there

Thanks for all your help guys, I definately burned the iso not a shortcut, I dont fully understand the diference between mac os x x86 and mac os x tiger but when i boot up the disk it says 'loading darwin x86' or something like that then it comes up with the apple logo as I said.

What is this -v which alows me to see whats happening, and where do I get it?

where do I get an 'uphuck verison'?

Post the specifics of your pc and the name of the iso u downloaded... we need more info!

p.s. Im sorry about being in the wrong forum, as you can see im new to insanelymac =/.

This iso is a bit old... u need at least a 10.4.8 from JaS to make ur video card fully working.

But it should actually boot... If I remember correctly, you need to repeatedly press the F8 key before the dvd starts to spin to show the boot menu, where u can write the -v flag needed to show where and/or why mac os stops loading... I guess that u'r getting the waiting for root device error or something similar... can u post the specifics of your motherboard? Is it SiS based? Run this tool under windows: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-140.zip and post everything u read there under all the tabs.

Tecnically, because the software is in fact illegal, we're not allowed to post links to the software. We're free to talk about it....but not point it out.

Pentium 4 eh? I haven't seen one of those in a while.

3.06 GHz? Got me beat =(
