StealthMode
Hey guys, I successfully cloned/restored my Uphuck 1.3 install from my 8gb IDE drive to a partition on my SATA drive. I'm dual boting with XP using the darwin bootloader and it's working great! Trouble is, I am now having some weird crashes (freezing up) which are happening quite randomly. I think they happen the most when I am multitasking. Here are my system specs.. AMD A64 3200+ Venice DFI Ultra-D (nForce4 Ultra) - onboard sound worksLink to mobo specs G.Skill 1gb eVGA 6800GS 256mb - Working with MacVidia driver NEC DVD-RW Buffalo WLI12 PCIG545 (BCM 4306) - AirPort Working 1x120gb SATA (Windows on Partition one, OSX on partition 2, set Active) 1x250gb SATA I think I have it all listed. Is it maybe an unstable SATA driver that is causing these issues? Also, iTunes and Adobe CS 3 suite always crash before actually opening. both have been updated to latest versions.. I haven't tried iLife yet. Possibly related, or is this just the nature of the beast? Thanks for any help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56941-having-a-couple-crashing-issues/ Share on other sites
Guest Ramm
It may be because you're on AMD... although uphuck is usually very stable on AMD. Do you have SSE3? I highly doubt that it's your HDDs causing the troubles. The CS3 crashing problem is widely known; search the forums. However, I have very little idea on the iTunes and other issues... StealthMode
Yes I do, and I forgot to mention I installed using the AMD SSE3 kernal... OSX is super fast, but yea, lots of random crashing. Should I have tried the SSE2, or one of the universal kernels? Guest Ramm
You may want to try it, just for the sake of trying it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56941-having-a-couple-crashing-issues/#findComment-407113 Share on other sites
StealthMode
How do I install a different kernal without reinstalling? Or do I need to reinstall..?
