mgamber
You'll probably get a better response if you include the hardware you've tried installing them to and your method of installation. I have 10.4.9 running great but it took a week of trial and error to get it there. vbetts
I did include the hardware. But, I didn't include how I tried... Sorry. But, I burned the disks, booted them in the the dvddl drive, that that's how I tried installing them. Guest Ramm
Have you tried burning to only DVD-R discs? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56935-what-version-of-osx86-should-i-use/#findComment-406813 Share on other sites
vbetts
Yeah, that's all I have. I'm just saying, the drive is a dual layer drive. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56935-what-version-of-osx86-should-i-use/#findComment-406858 Share on other sites
mgamber
Oh yeah, there's the hardware. Check this link, it works great for me. I used VMWare and installed to an external USB connected hard drive. When it was ready to go, I swapped the drives, booted it up and it now runs great. Installing from the DVD took hours and never worked correctly. http://marc88.blogspot.com/2007/03/osx86-i...x200-users.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56935-what-version-of-osx86-should-i-use/#findComment-406956 Share on other sites
vbetts
I'll have to consider that. Thanks. But, I guess I don't get the acpi error from the tubgirl iso. Installed it twice, didn't get it either times. Got a new error... It doesn't boot, but it shows this. System config file "/com.apple.boot.plist' not found. frizbot
Bumps are annoying me. Make sure the drive is partitioned using the Master Boot Record partition map. In Disk Utility, it is an advanced option when partitioning. I've seen the Boot.plist error happen after using the Apple Partition Map instead. JaS' 10.4.8 is a classic IMHO, a very reliable system. vbetts
Jas 10.4.8 won't boot up for me....=[ ACPI error with it... But, I used an extra drive lying around just to install it one on main parition, the whole disk. But, I'll try that though. But I'd rather bump a topic then make 2-4 topics about the same thing. vbetts
Alright, using the partition map to format the drive WORKED! Booted up and all, but few problems. No sound, no network device identified, and something that's not that big of a deal to me right now, no video support. Which, doesn't matter, so that's not the problem. Just, no sound or network. Southbridge is ULI m1573 Sound chip is Azalia ALC880 Ethernet adapter is Realtek 8201CL. Anything I can do for that?
