How do I BOOT in sfe mode?

Here is the deal, had the prerelase, now the volume won't install.

 

There is a script that can run that cleans out any reminents of pre release but when I launch it, I get that GREY color from top to BOTTOM error that says PLEASE RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.

 

I am running 10.4.8 so there is no window, just goes straight to GREY LOGO then dissapears for a few seconds and my dual screens come up.

 

I have done it one time, hold SHIFT the whole time, but can't seem to duplicate it.......when to hold shift or HOW to boot into safe mode.

 

The theory is in SAFE MODE, I can run the script then install Photoshop VOLUME license on the hack.

 

The only one time I was successful in SAFE I knew it was safe as it said safe I THINK and showed like a log in screen in the desktop.

Help needed or how to get PHOTOSHOP VOLUME TO WORK and how to BOOT into safe. The old versions 10.4.6, you always had a choice with screens, now it goes right to logo, (grey) have tried SHIFT many different times during boot up and have only seen SAFE MODE once!!!

hi

just holding the shift key down is a regular boot but itstops extensions and startup items loading.

 

for a full safe boot, reboot and hold down the F8 key

 

when you get the prompt, you can type "-x" and then "return" for safe boot, "-s" for single user mode (great for using applejack, a disk repair and system cleaner ) or "-v" for verbose boot (good for seeing what's going on)

 

the key combo on a real mac is is command+s but sometimes it's not picked up by my hacktosh

 

once installed you may have problems running CS3 without some extra tweaks, the copy protection can make it crash, you have to patch either it, or the mac (run a forum search)

 

btw you could always open the applescript in the editor and see what needs to be junked
