JoeyKing
...but I can't get it to work. The first question is maybe a little silly, but...what Chipset do I actually have? I have a Dell 4550. It has a Dell Mobo. Windows says on one hand: Intel 82801 DB Ultra ATA Controller Dev: 24CB Ven 8086 And also Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV processor Dev 2560 ...and a lot of other device IDs like 24xx (taken from different views/entries in hardware manager) Obviously I have a Intel chipset. it has UDMA 3 or 4, I think ATA100. Under XP the drives are fairly fast, under OsX they are surely PIO, not UDMA. But if I google for 82801 DB, I find a lot of stuff related to sound??? I don't have onboard sound, since I have a soundcard....why should Dell sell this PC with a soundcard if it had onboard sound? I tried what I found in this post: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=517# But no success so far, maybe because this post is quite old, and I have 10.4.9 V1.3 uphuck. Can someone point me into the right direction? Another question: Where in OsX can I find the info whether I have PIO or UDMA? JoeyKing
I tried a little more. OsX tells me at startup that some PIIAta Driver is too old and replaced by a new one, but, to be honest, I don'T quite get it. How comes that I suddenly have two ATA drivers to be loaded? Now this is really a part of my PC that I am ver unfamiliar with. Maybe somebody is kind enough to answer some of my questions from above....
