SquidCombo
Hi guys, only recently that I have been able to run titan/natit on my osx86 and I was running movie trailer called Shoot em' up at 1080p on osx86 on full screen, turns out the windows version of quicktime doesn't show it as good as OS X!!! The color and contrast is more vibrant on OS X and I can only compare with osx86 since my macbook has glossy screen while my desktop monitor is matte. sarahbau
Part of it might just be that Windows uses a darker gamma than OS X, so not as much detail will come through in some things. Danyel
Hi SquidCombo: I have noticed the same thing when I played QuickTime Movies and DVD's on Mac OS X (Myzar 10.4.6) on my setup at home. Video seems smoother and graphics seem sharper and brighter on Mac OS X (compared with Windows XP SP2 on the same hardware). Also, FrontRow has a nice and elegant interface for OS X. I keep my Media (Movies, Music, etc) on FAT32 Partition so that Mac OS X and Windows can both access them. --danyel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56803-quicktime-movies-look-better-on-os-x-than-in-windows/#findComment-405995 Share on other sites
SquidCombo
Would it be because of the H.264 compression? I can see the compression effect in windows like colors trying to blend with the surrounding colors but on the mac it looks better. Hi Danyel, How do you manage those files bigger than 4GB? Guest Ramm
They definitely look better on OS X. Perhaps, it is because of the DVI I have for Mac, and not for my PC. digby
Yes, while QT is obviously better on mac than windows.. you'll also notice WMVs, whether played with flip4mac or vlc, look crappy when compared to WMP. Native is always better.
