Please tell me if your optical SPDIF out works, and what motherboard you are running. I am looking for the least expensive board with working SPDIF and working everything else. I would like the Asus P5LD2-VM but Newegg is out of stock so I was researching what else might work. Thanks a bunch.

I'm using an Asus P5LD2-VM DH with optional SPDIF connector

Audio works great, 5.1, Dolby Digital, DTS, etc with Logitech Z-680 speakers (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2003/09/30/logitech_z-680_thx_5_1_speakers/1)

Hey that is great to hear Taruga. How is the DH model different my friend? Does it work just as well as the non-DH? Thanks.

The DH model supports AHCI and Native Command Queuing, it's best for osx, it works better than the non-DH.

Intel ICH7-M AHCI:

Vendor: Intel

Product: ICH7-M AHCI

Speed: 3.0 Gigabit

Description: AHCI Version 1.10 Supported

Maxtor 6V160E0:

Capacity: 149.05 GB

Model: Maxtor 6V160E0

Revision: VA111900

Serial Number: V30AXDMG

Native Command Queuing: Yes

Queue Depth: 32

Removable Media: No

Detachable Drive: No

BSD Name: disk3

OS9 Drivers: No

S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified

I would go for the P5LD2-VM DH, I have one P5LD2-VM (non-DH) also and I like the DH version the most. Its more compatible compared to a real mac which also uses AHCI
