bswinnerton
Hey everyone, i posted this over at another forum but had no luck. I was just wondering, i just got a cool icon for the system folder, but because it is locked i can't change it. I've looked into root, but don't really want to enable it, so is there a way in terminal to open the "get info" option using sudo? For example sudo get info of system... or something along those lines? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56477-sudo-get-info/ Share on other sites
erbic
You could just go into Get Info, change the permissions of the System folder so you can write to it, then change the permissions back when you're finished. This is potentially dangerous, so make sure you fix them when you're done. Alternately, you could use a program like CandyBar, which will automatically take admin privileges when it's changing your icons. EDIT: W00t 600th post! :D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56477-sudo-get-info/#findComment-403689 Share on other sites

bswinnerton
Yeah, i know you can't change them. Well atleast not in the get info page, i suppose you could in the terminal. But like i said is there a command for the get info in terminal? It would be much easier and less of a security risk. Thanks. But along the lines of icons. Is there any way, (without the help of a 3rd party program) that you can change the default icons? For example if i create a new folder it will automatically go to the icon that i choose. I suppose there would be some stash of default icons somewhere in the filesystem, but i have yet to find them. Anyone have any input?? erbic
You can't change the permissions of the System folder. Oops. *cough* Just ignore me. I'm not sure if there's a way to do it w/out a 3rd-party program... I know there's a good free one out there but I can't remember the name or site. It was on Digg about a week ago.
