Howdy, i'm new here as you could probably tell if you're not blind as a bat.

Now i've got a pretty good idea of how to get OSX working on a PC*, but i have no clue as to where AMD patches are found for Osx86 install dvd, any help on that front would be well...helpful.

And i'm thinking of using a existing 40GB HD for my OS's(IDE) and for my games and guff(XP) i'll be using a SATAII HD which will be 320GB for my many games, movies etc.

Does it sound like a fairly good idea or should i have more room for my OS's? Help on anything i've said would be much appriciated.

Cheers,

Jimbo.

*If you ask for my specs i'll give them, but they aint needed.

Specs are important very much so I'm afraid.

If your looking into really getting into OS X you'll want to go with an Intel System. (Preferably One with an Intel-based Chipset),.

While AMD Chips will work fine w/OS X you can expect somewhat longer delays for hacked updates / and chipset support (i.e. AMD/nForce SATA compatibility leaps to mind),.

Barring that I guess the Question becomes which OS did you plan on making the (your), "Default"?!

It's fairly straightforward to setup a "Dual-Boot" under XP. (You'll need your OS X Install Disk though),.

1) Pop in your OS X Install CD under Windows and copy the File "chain0" from the "Root Directory" to the Root Directory on your PC (i.e. C:\),.

2) Go to your "Control Panel", "System", choose the "Advanced" Tab then "Startup and Recovery", hit the "Edit" Button.

3 Add this Line w/o ".." : "C:\chain0="Mac OS X86"" (you can rename "Mac OS X86" to anything you like I personaly use "OSX 10.4.x" myself.

Save changes.

4. Set the above (the Edit Button) Timers to taste and exit.

It shouldn't matter if your OSX is installed on the same HDD or not as long as it is installed and you can otherwise boot into it, this method will work.

AFAIK: Bootcamp does NOT work on Hackintosh... :-(
