If your SATA controller is recognized by the installer, just install 10.4.9 to your SATA drive.

If not : install 10.4.9 to a IDE device then install SATA drivers, reboot.

Now use carbon copy cloner to clone your IDE partition with os x to your SATA drive.

Reboot, cross fingers :P

install first on a PATA (IDE) drive, then install nforce4 SATA kext, reboot, then clone your drive using carbon copy cloner.

Have you another SATA controller on your motherboard ? like "silicon image"
