I'm trying HARD to install Leopard 9a446a and have a HUGE problems...

tried installing off a custom made SL DVD with a modified mpkg and ended up with the same problem every other success story has: grey screen with after boot and no installer

tried iPod install... not sure I even did it right... (can you use the iPod as an external firewire drive?)

don't have USB 2.0... (I know, I know... "go out and buy a damn card!")

don't have an external firewire drive... ("go out and buy a damn drive!")

don't have a DL DVD-r... ("go out and buy a burner!")

could anyone who installed with an iPod please describe how to do so with a factory iPod?

and ANYONE who has installed successfully with a SL DVD... how EXACTLY did you do it?

my machine specs are in my posting signature

any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am extremely frustrated and anxious to try using Leopard

thanx in advance

haHAHAHAHHAHA

I'm an IT expert well versed in the repair of Macs...

I've been using/fixing them since long before moto/IBM chips came out

so I don't want to hear that I don't know what I'm talking about...

I'm trying to get help from people that "work" with the same equipment

I'm trying to install a beta on an antiquated piece of equipment, not install a WWDC system on my home computer...

I'd rather not hear about what you think my "ideals" are...

thanks ;)

well then you could partition your drive and put the leopard image on one partition and then boot it that way, and install on the other partition.

How, exactly, could that be accomplished on a PPC machine without erasing the drive? It's pretty difficult to restore a drive image that was just wiped from the file system, in my experience...

for some reason Leopard doesn't see my USB external HDD attached to factory ports

possible that leopard won't see mass storage not attached to USB 2.0?

replacing the Leopard IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext with one from Tiger a possible fix?

I've tried this and lost all USB functionality, now trying modifying the .kext in the Tiger version by editing the Info and version plists to mirror the Leopard .kext

any suggestions other than this?

has anyone else tried using mass storage other than an ipod on USB 1.1 in Leopard?
