("go out and buy a damn drive!") don't have a DL DVD-r... ("go out and buy a burner!") could anyone who installed with an iPod please describe how to do so with a factory iPod? and ANYONE who has installed successfully with a SL DVD... how EXACTLY did you do it? my machine specs are in my posting signature any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am extremely frustrated and anxious to try using Leopard thanx in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55882-ok-ive-tried-everything/ Share on other sites
turpentine
even if you do get it installed, it's going to suck. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55882-ok-ive-tried-everything/#findComment-399457 Share on other sites

dow
most likely won't boot off USB on my machine since its not 2.0... any chance I can reformat the iPod to HFS+ (Journaled), "restore" the image and boot as an external drive on firewire? Kaeonadai
Newest ipods don't have FW support. Remember that. But anyways, it's going to suck anyways. It's time to upgrade. turpentine
ppc machines can only boot of off firewire anyways, so you can only do it if you have a 4.5gen or earlier ipod. but based on your level of mac expertise i recommend you don't upgrade to this beta. dow
haHAHAHAHHAHA I'm an IT expert well versed in the repair of Macs... I've been using/fixing them since long before moto/IBM chips came out so I don't want to hear that I don't know what I'm talking about... I'm trying to get help from people that "work" with the same equipment I'm trying to install a beta on an antiquated piece of equipment, not install a WWDC system on my home computer... I'd rather not hear about what you think my "ideals" are... thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55882-ok-ive-tried-everything/#findComment-399537 Share on other sites
turpentine
well then you could partition your drive and put the leopard image on one partition and then boot it that way, and install on the other partition. 5thAgent
well then you could partition your drive and put the leopard image on one partition and then boot it that way, and install on the other partition. How, exactly, could that be accomplished on a PPC machine without erasing the drive? It's pretty difficult to restore a drive image that was just wiped from the file system, in my experience... dow
for some reason Leopard doesn't see my USB external HDD attached to factory ports possible that leopard won't see mass storage not attached to USB 2.0? replacing the Leopard IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext with one from Tiger a possible fix? I've tried this and lost all USB functionality, now trying modifying the .kext in the Tiger version by editing the Info and version plists to mirror the Leopard .kext any suggestions other than this? has anyone else tried using mass storage other than an ipod on USB 1.1 in Leopard?
