My DVD drive, (Toshiba Satellite) has a problem, which is common with that model, that it will not boot off of DVDs. This is quite a pain to me, beacuse I am trying to install 10.4.8 JaS with the DVD. I was thinking, though. Could I put the JaS install disk image on a partition and the boot off of it? If I can, how would I do it? Thank you for your help!

Currently, I am running 10.4.6, which I installed from the tiger-x86-unpersonalized.img Baisicly, I want to run the 10.4.8 installer, but can't.

I can also load Windows XP, Ubuntu, or Red Hat Linux.

UPDATE: Well, I copied over my ISO, mounted it, and copied (by selecting and dragging) all of the files to a different partition. Then, I used GParted to set that partition to "BOOT". When I restarted, it said

"Not a system disk.

Press any key to restart."

When I press a key, it does it again, and so on.

So, whats going on? Why cant I boot?

In case I missed something, the files on the partition are:

Apple Hardware Test Read Me.pdf
Install bundled software only.pkg
Install Mac OS X and bundled software
Japanese
Library
mach_kernel
mach_kernel.mifki
Optional Installs.pkg
Read Before You Install
