For Applications- Right Click->Properties->Icon Tab->Change Icon For Shortcuts- Right Click->Properties->Shortcut Tab-> Change Icon As far as making a particular .doc or all .docs one Icon, Im not so sure.. You could use Stardocks Icon Packenger.
