Is it possible to install OS X 86 on an IDE HD? Anyone done it wit a P5B Deluxe? Tried Posted June 1, 2007 Share Posted June 1, 2007 you can definitely install mac os on an ide hard drive. does your bios recognise your hd in the first place? it seems weird disk util cant see your drive unless it has problems. lilSoldier Posted June 1, 2007 Share Posted June 1, 2007 i had this exact problem! The way I fixed this is to put your DVD drive on the same IDE cable as your HDD. You should set your HDD to slave, and set your DVD drive to master. This will make the installer pick up your HDD, however I have not tried putting the HDD back onto its own IDE drive yet. I have a friend who has both a SATA desktop and laptop, and neither has been successful, however on his IDE/ATA machine, mac went on without a problem.
