mawsoccer
I think I have tried about all the settings possible in my P5B Deluxe Bios and I cant get Disk Utility to recognize my IDE HD. Is it possible to install OS X 86 on an IDE HD? Anyone done it wit a P5B Deluxe?

Tried
you can definitely install mac os on an ide hard drive. does your bios recognise your hd in the first place? it seems weird disk util cant see your drive unless it has problems.
lilSoldier
i had this exact problem! The way I fixed this is to put your DVD drive on the same IDE cable as your HDD. You should set your HDD to slave, and set your DVD drive to master. This will make the installer pick up your HDD, however I have not tried putting the HDD back onto its own IDE drive yet. Hope I could help
mawsoccer
Unfortunately, I have a SATA DVD Drive, so that won't work, but it reminds me to make sure my HDD is set to master.
lilSoldier
Oh, I see. I have a friend who has both a SATA desktop and laptop, and neither has been successful, however on his IDE/ATA machine, mac went on without a problem. Anyway, I am glad that I reminded you to do that!
jedavis1
If you can't see your HD when you boot from the install DVD, you may need to do the VMware method. Do a search there are plenty of guides.
