hello,

My friend has an Apple IMac G5 with original Tiger DVD, can i use this DVD with a Patch to make an Install DVD for X86 ?

i cant download the x86 tiger image, bittorent is too slow.

sorry my english isnt good :-(

No, but you can try to run it in pearPC (PPC emulator). For an install on x86 hardware you need the x86 version.

the difference between the original mac dvd and the x86 version can be only a few Megabytes,

can any1 make a patch for it ? i cant download the x86 dvd with 0,1Kbyte/s , a faster download with bittorrent dont go, because nobody shares the file. or can any1 say me a fast download site ?

Even still, the iMac install DVD will only work on that exact model of iMac. If you put it into any other model, it won't even install. The install DVDs are model specific now... :o

That's not true, in my case they work in any other Mac.

It isn't like Mac OS 9 which install specific System, System Extensions and Control Panels.

If I use my PowerBook as Target Disk Mode I can boot with other Macs and they load their own specifix Extensions to function.

Although Tiger DVD on PPC Macs has no X86 Code yet, but I think when Intel Macs will released Install DVDs will have Universal Binaries.

Edit: what can be different is the Applications they included in the DVD, so SuperDrive models have iDVD, the new iMac has Front Row, I Guess.
